Shoulder impingement & rotator cuff
Prevalence · Common in racquet sport players
A pinch on overhead reach, weakness brushing your hair, or a deep ache at night when sleeping on the side.
Typical course of care
8 – 12 sessions over 6 – 10 weeks
Most patients see meaningful change inside the first three sessions. We re-test two markers every visit and adjust the plan in writing.
Common at the clinic
Roughly one in eight assessments at Holistic Physio is for a case like shoulder impingement & rotator cuff.
Signs we look for
- Painful arc on lifting the arm
- Night pain when sleeping on the side
- Weakness in overhead carrying
- Discomfort during overhead serves or padel smashes
How we treat it
Scapular control work, isometric loading of the cuff, and progressive return to overhead activity. Manual therapy when joint stiffness is part of the picture.
We measure baseline range, strength, and one functional task at the first visit, then re-test two of the three markers every session after.
