Knee osteoarthritis
Prevalence · 1 in 3 adults over 55
Stiffness on standing up, swelling after a long walk, and a knee that no longer trusts the stairs.
Typical course of care
10 – 12 sessions over 10 – 12 weeks
Most patients see meaningful change inside the first three sessions. We re-test two markers every visit and adjust the plan in writing.
Common at the clinic
Roughly one in eight assessments at Holistic Physio is for a case like knee osteoarthritis.
Signs we look for
- Morning stiffness that eases inside 30 min
- Pain on stairs (especially down)
- Mild swelling after activity
- Crackling or grinding sensation
How we treat it
Strength is the disease-modifying drug. We build quad and glute capacity, off-load painful loading patterns, and use hydrotherapy when land work is too much.
We measure baseline range, strength, and one functional task at the first visit, then re-test two of the three markers every session after.
